The hidden secret to topper style boards preparation for humanities students CBSE Class 12, How Papers are checked

Hi folks, I am Akash. I am founder at Humanitased.com and also a teacher since a very long long time, and have produced dozens of toppers from my teachings. I Scored 95% in my 12th CBSE boards exams, and so i am here to share with you, what are the things you need to do and what not. This article will totally be based on my and other toppers' perspectives and also the ones who check your Boards Answer sheets. During exams, You get worried about marks, worried about teacher expectations, and that is because you’re managing five big humanities subjects syllabi: History, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, and Economics (plus optional subjects like Psychology). I am here to tell you what are the things you need to Do in order to get most of the marks from pre & real boards exam.

Yes! There is a Hack

And that is very simple! You just need to understand few things first. One, what you goal is while you are preparing for exams, Second, What your goal is while writing your answers., and Third, what is the mentality of the person who is checking your answers after your exams are over. Fortunately, the answer to all three is similar, and that is  Getting Marks and only marks. The Checker wants to give you marks, and yes, he is not jealous of giving you marks like your bench mate.

You just need to Understand that Marks is the purpose of doing everything around exams, and to get more of it, you need to understand the mentality of the checker and do the best things. I will now be explaining all of these in details.

The Checker's Mentality in Boards exam

Every Checker, unlike your school's Humanities subject teacher (pol science, history, geography, etc), wants to give you marks. The only reason he would not give you marks is the reason you will create. Few of my teachers, when i was in 12th, were occupied with checking copies of boards exams. I asked them individually about how they felt while checking those copies. So, if you are going to write exams in Feb - march next year, those copies will go to allotted centres for checking. Those centres are decided by the CBSE itself. Your Information Sheet (the first-blue sheet) will be detached, and then with other hundreds of answer sheets, will be put on the table of checkers. there are two stages of checking according to what i have heard. the real is the first one.

So what happens is that these guys get a lot of copies to check per day, around 100 boards exam answer sheets. The reality is, checking is a brain rotting exercise, and honestly, no one wants to go deeper between your every line of answer which you write. We do not have this much time and Motivation to examine and check in detail every copy line by line. So, how these much copies are checked then? Maybe you have got a clue now. Every checker has a Simple mentality and judgement parameters for giving marks and examining an answer copy, and believe me, it works every time. If you're maintaining these factors rightly, I feel you're raising your boards exam marks by up to 30-50%.

Number one, your first impression is your real impression. If a student has written his best answer in the beginning, there are more chances of a getting a lenient checking by the checker as he would have established a latent trust in checkers mind.

Second, The answer Quality matters. Handwriting, Less cutting, proper spacing, and gaps, with underlining makes a difference between an average student and a topper. So, if two students are writing the same answer with same wordings, lets assume, then the one who writes in a good style will always get more marks due to his impression.

Third, In the class 12 Humanities exams Quantity factor also works. you need to write your answers like a 12 class boards students. you cannot write a History long answer in 8 lines and expect 8 marks for the same. Grow up! You need to write much more than that. if you struggle to write longer points or have doubts in answer writing, you can Contact me through the mail or the whats app contact.

Fourth, Checker wants ease of checking! You must make things Easier for him to check and give you marks. Do not create speed brakes and force him to stop and read line by line, you will only loose marks this way. the best way is to Underline key facts, Writing in points, drawing flowcharts after every long answer. These things allow the checker to not look directly into  your answer and show a big positive impression.

Fifth, prefer Quality over quantity! you can get way better marks if you write in good formatting and handwriting, compared to writing average or good answers with no proper formatting.

Remember, you do not need to eat your books before exams like i did (although, i got 95 in History, Pol science, Economics, because of the quality also). You just need to maintain a good handwriting, Underlining, Gaps, Spaces, and rest other things to make things easy for the checker, that's it! But one more thing to remember.

You need to write your answers in the best way and format. For that, I have created a separate blog, in which i Discussed how I wrote my answers, and how I  teach students to write their answers in the way a Topper writes. So please Check that out. Apart from all these, you need a final thing to hear. to write well, you also need to study and prepare well, there is no shortcut in that. Yes, I being a Coach can make things easier so that you can learn things at a good pace while knowing what things are important and what things are not that relevant, but in the end, everything needs minimal level of discipline.

You’re not alone in this. Class 12 humanities exams are won by strategy more than stress: honest audit, focused notes, exam-style practice, and clean presentation. Use your pre-boards as a rehearsal room, make mistakes here so you don’t repeat them in the finals. Keep your questions precise, your answers structured, and your sleep sacred.
